Weight decides the rules

249 g is a legal line, not a marketing one. Below it you fly in the open category A1 with no A2 examination and fewer restrictions over built-up areas. Above it, registration and training become part of every flight. The price of that convenience is a smaller sensor, less resistance to wind and a shorter range.

Flight time, minus a third

Manufacturers measure flight time in still air, flying straight, down to an empty cell. In practice subtract a third. A second battery changes how you fly far more than ten minutes on a specification sheet.

What the footage is for

For a phone screen any current drone will do. To cut aerial footage with camera footage you want a 1-inch sensor and 10-bit recording. For inspection work, zoom and position holding matter more than the film.
